Teddy’s Men of Courage

“I want, as game protectors, men of courage, resolution and hardihood who can handle the rifle, axe and paddle; who can camp out in summer or winter; who can go on snowshoes, if necessary; who can go through the woods by day or by night without regard to trails.” NY Governor Teddy Roosevelt 1899

Washington County Youth Pheasant Hunt 2012

On September 22, 2012, the Washington County Federation of Sportsmen held a Pheasant hunt for hunters aged 12-15 years old. In preparation for the hunt, a hunter safety class was held at the Hudson Falls Fish and Game Club and 100 birds were released on a private hunting preserve. Nineteen young hunters were led afield by eight dog handlers and they harvested a total of 22 birds. Donations from NYCOA and the hunting preserve make this annual event possible.
